Mob Gathers Outside CVS
Today, on my way home from Target, I spotted a ruly mob gathering outside the Columbia Heights CVS. At first I thought they were assembled to protest slow checkout lines, or that person in front of you who wants to argue with the cashier about the 2-for-1 deal for gum, or CVS's practice of keeping razor blades and other essentials under lock and key. But as I got closer, I realized an old Ventures tune was coming out of the bullhorn held by the man pictured here.
I also noticed that much of this crowd was busy photographing each other. Perhaps the Interweb will explain in due time what this was all about.

i'm not sure if this post is supposed to be snarky/ironic or what. first, you could have asked people what they were gathering for. secondly, if you would just notice the shirt that the man with the bullhorn is wearing, you'll notice that this was part of cultural tourism DC's "walking town" weekend.
there you go, problem solved.

It was the Mt. Pleasant Music History tour, as part of the spring series of WalkingTown DC tours, sponsored by Cultural Tourism DC. It started in front of the CVS and proceeded west into Mt. Pleasant.
I'd make a pretty good guess that this had to do with the free walking tour day on Saturday. I'm pretty sure one of them was meeting in front of the CVS.

Thanks, Internets! It must indeed have been the music tour -- that would explain the Ventures tune. Except the Ventures are from the other Washington, so there is a story yet to be told which a cursory Googling didn't answer (Fact checking is soo mainstream media).
IMGoph, I went back and re-read my post. I don't see, and certainly didn't intend, any snarkiness towards the good people gathered. "Ruly mob" was tongue in cheek. I never miss a chance to snark on CVS though, and that's where all the snarkiness was directed. In general, anyone who wants to play the Ventures over a bullhorn is all right by me.
hey alex, no worries! sorry to jump on you there. not familiar with your blog, so i didn't realize you have an ongoing thing w/CVS.
no problemo!
